On October 18, Olivia Hildebrand, Deputy Consul General of the British Consulate-General in Wuhan, Gao Yawen, Director of Regional Cooperation Department of the British Consulate-General in Wuhan, as well as Deputy Director Wang Weichao and Official Chen Sijia of the Foreign Affairs Office of Kaifeng Municipal People’s Government visited YRCTI. YRCTI’s Party Secretary Zhou Baoping,Vice President Zhou Zhiqi, and heads of relevant departments warmly received the delegation.
During the symposium, Party Secretary Zhou Baoping delivered a welcome speech, where she introduced YRCTI’s long-standing development history, distinct educational characteristics, remarkable educational achievements, as well as international educational outcomes. She also stated that educational cooperation, as a vital part of China-British collaboration, has cultivated a large number of high-end technical talents with international perspectives, which is beneficial for the long-term development of higher education institutions in both countries. Moving forward, YRCTI will continue to uphold the concept of openness in education to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with British universities and educational institutions, broaden and deepen the educational cooperation with them, and make contributions to the mutual benefits and win-win cooperation in education between China and British.
Olivia Hildebrand expressed her gratitude for the warm reception of YRCTI and gave full recognition and high praise to YRCTI’s educational characteristics, concept, and level. She emphasized that the people-to-people exchange is the cornerstonetostrengthen the China-British relationship. In addition, she also expressed that the British Consulate-General in Wuhan will continue to facilitate platforms for China-British educational cooperation, promote the dialogue and exchange between universities and scholars from the two countries, and create an open, inclusive, and sustainable cooperation system. She also expects to jointly hold exchange activities in vocational education with YRCTI, work together to promote the development of vocational education in both China and British,and strive to create a new landscape of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.
During the visit, Olivia Hildebrand and the delegation visited the Training Classrooms of the School of Surveying and Mapping Engineering, the “Footprint” cultural landscape, the Kunpeng Mountain Water Conservancy Training Base, and the Yellow River Engineering Culture Corridor. They all expressed admiration for YRCTI’s practical training conditions, faculty team, and talent cultivation achievements, and showed great confidence in the future cooperation between the two sides.
