Recently, Wang Feng and Wang Mengmeng, teachers from the School of Water Conservancy Engineering of YRCTI, visited Arba Minch University of Ethiopia to discuss the construction of the Dayu School. President Damtew Darza, Academic Vice-President Alemayehu Chufamo Eromo, and other officials of Arba Minch University of Ethiopia attended the discussion meeting.

President Damtew Darza extended a warm welcome to YRCTI’s two teachers. He introduced the educational situation and achievements in water conservancy of Arba Minch University of Ethiopia and reviewed the cooperative history between YRCTI and Arba Minch University of Ethiopia. He stated that Dayu School is a key international cooperation project for Arba Minch University and he also hoped to, by introducing high-quality vocational education resources from China, accelerate the training of local technical and skilled talents to provide local youth with new pathways to the international stage.

YRCTI’s two teachers thanked Arba Minch University for its warm hospitality and provided an overview of the international cooperation in water conservancy of YRCTI. They hoped that this visit would further deepen mutual understanding between the two universities, clarify specific areas of cooperation, expand the scope of collaboration, and lay a solid foundation for the subsequent teaching and other activities at the Dayu School.

At the meeting, both sides discussed the implementation details of student enrollment, faculty, and teaching for the Dayu School and reached agreements on the cultivation plan for the first batch of professional talents in water conservancy engineering, the commencement time of teaching activities, and the division of respective responsibilities. Then, they visited the laboratories, library, and multimedia classrooms of the College of Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering of Arba Minch University.

The Ethiopia Dayu School is jointly established by YRCTI and Arba Minch University for cultivating much-needed water resources technical and skilled talents for East Africa and Chinese global enterprises. It is a significant step in YRCTI’s strategy to refine the Chinese and foreign “1+N+M” distributed layout of Dayu Schools and precisely serve the needs of China’s water conservancy industry for international talents and holds great importance for enhancing YRCTI’s international educational standards and establishing the Dayu School as an international brand for Chinese vocational education.
