From November 22 to 24, the Final of the First Competition for the Beidou-based Geomatics Intelligent Application Works of the 2024 Belt & Road and BRICS Competition of Skills Development and Technology Innovation took place in Wuhan, Hubei. Over ninety teams from all parts of the country competed together. YRCTI selected Yang Jian and Li Xinyuan, two faculty members from the School of Surveying and Mapping Engineering, along with ten students, namely Wu Xiaozhuang, Zhang Yuhao, Chen Dongpeng, Yang Xufan, Cao Yuzhang, Wang Yonglei, Wang Hangxu, Zhang Shengkai, Shan Xuehui and Li Shuofang, to participate in both the teacher and student categories. After a vigorous competition, they achieved outstanding results, winning one gold medal, three silver medals, and two bronze medals. YRCTI received the “Best Organization Award” and two “Outstanding Organization Awards” for different events, with Guo Yuzhen and He Kuan being recognized as “Outstanding Instructors”.

This competition was jointly hosted by the China Section of BRICS Business Council, the Belt & Road and BRICS Skills Development International Alliance, the “Belt & Road” and BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Training Center under the China Association for Science and Technology, the China Association of Inventions, and the China Center for International People-to-People Exchange, Ministry of Education. It was co-organized by Wuhan Vocational College of Software and Engineering (Wuhan Open University), Hubei Xinghua Education Investment Information Technology Co., Ltd., Wuhan Beidou Industry Innovation Center Co., Ltd., and Nanjing Beidou Innovation Application Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. The event featured three categories: theoretical knowledge contest, professional foundation contest, and the development and defense of Beidou time-space intelligent application projects. YRCTI’s contestants overcame numerous challenges, competed with diligence and rigor, and meticulously completed each event, ultimately achieving outstanding results.

The success of this competition is attributed to the high level of attention and strong support from YRCTI’s leadership, as well as the relentless efforts of the participating teachers and students. YRCTI will continue to adhere to the teaching philosophy of “promoting learning, practice and education through competition”. By actively preparing for and participating in competitions, YRCTI aims to compete and exchange ideas with high-tech, skilled professionals in related fields, thereby cultivating more high-quality innovative technical talents with creativity and practical spirit.
