On July 29, People's Daily's education section featured an article titled "Vocational Education Nurtures Talent for Major Projects: Mastering Skills to Forge National Pillars", vividly illustrating how vocational education serves regional economic development. The report, reposted by Xinhua Net, the Ministry of Education's portal, and and Weiyan Education (MOE's social media platform), spotlighted graduates from YRCTU working at the Baihetan Hydropower Station. It delved into the talent cultivation model of vocational colleges, decoding the strategic role of vocational education in advancing socioeconomic development and bolstering national priorities.

YRCTU's outstanding accomplishments in industry-education integration and talent development have recently garnered significant attention from China's leading media outlets, showcasing the university's distinctive educational strengths. On March 26, CCTV News' Morning News featured an in-depth report titled "Deepening Industry-Education Integration to Cultivate Master Craftsmen", highlighting our innovative practices in cultivating water conservancy professionals. On July 1, China Education Daily published "Guided by Competency Mapping, Anchored by Industry-Education Practice Centers", analyzing our talent development model in environmental engineering. This latest coverage by People's Daily, affirming our talent cultivation vision, has once again sparked widespread public interest. This recognition not only serves as high praise for our years of dedication to vocational education excellence but also motivates and inspires our future development.
As China's only vocational-technical university bearing the name of the Yellow River, YRCTU has actively implemented national policies on industry-education integration, forging strong partnerships with industry leaders. The university has established collaborative education platforms with key organizations such as the Yellow River Conservancy Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanmenxia Yellow River Pearl Group, jointly founding eight industrial colleges. This has created a comprehensive "Learn-Follow-Rotate-Advance" cultivation model, achieving deep integration between educational and industrial chains. In talent development, YRCTU adopts a student-centered approach with a "Curriculum-Competition-Certification-Position" integrated education system. Course content is meticulously aligned with industry demands, emphasizing both technical skills and holistic competencies. The university actively encourages student participation in skill competitions, using contests to enhance learning and teaching effectiveness. In recent years, our students have consistently excelled in the National Vocational College Skills Competition and specialized industry contests, demonstrating exceptional professional expertise and innovative capabilities.
This year marks a pivotal leap in our academic development as we successfully transitioned to undergraduate-level vocational education. Our inaugural six bachelor's programs - Hydraulic and Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering, Geomatics Engineering Technology, Agricultural Water Conservancy Engineering, Eco-Environmental Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design & Manufacturing and Automation, and Automation Technology & Application - are strategically aligned with national priorities and industry evolution. These programs embody our distinctive "engineering-focused, water-conservancy-specialized, dual-wing development" educational positioning. Moving forward, the university will steadfastly pursue "excellence in educational capacity and quality in industry-education integration." We are committed to deepening pedagogical reforms, refining our talent cultivation models, and producing more high-skilled professionals to meet national demands. Through these efforts, we aim to make greater contributions to the advancement of vocational education in China.
