Electrical Engineering School currently offers six specialized programs: Electrical Automation Technology, Power Plant & Power Systems, Building Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronic Information Engineering Technology, Intelligent Internet-working Technology, and Urban Rail Transit Communication & Signaling Technology. The School is structured into five teaching and research divisions and one training center: Electrical Teaching and Research Division, Power Engineering Teaching and Research Division, Building Electrical Teaching and Research Division, Telecommunications Teaching and Research Division, Electronics Teaching and Research Division, and Electronics & Automation Technology Training Center.
The School currently holds 1 National Key Program, 2 National Modern Apprenticeship Pilot Programs, 1 Provincial Teaching Reform Pilot Program, 2 Provincial Distinctive Programs, 1 Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Program, 1 Provincial Vocational Education Teaching Innovation Team, and 1 National "Dual-Qualified" Teacher Training Base. The Electrical Automation Technology program was accredited as a national key program in 2009 through the exemplary evaluation by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and Ministry of Finance (MoF). In 2017, the School launched a Sino-Russian joint program in collaboration with South Ural State University (SUSU), Russia. Meanwhile, the Electronic Information Engineering Technology program was designated as a national modern apprenticeship pilot program in the same year. In 2021, the teaching faculty of the Electrical Automation Technology program was recognized as a provincial vocational education teaching innovation team by Henan Province. Additionally, the Siemens Automation Technology "Dual-Qualified" Teacher Training Base (equipping instructors with both academic and industry expertise) was certified as a national-level "Dual-Qualified" teacher training base by the MoE in 2019. Current enrollment stands at 1,500+ full-time students
The School currently has a faculty and staff of 41 members, Including 15 professors and associate professors, 1 senior engineer, and 18 lecturers. Among them, 38 hold doctoral or master's degrees. The faculty includes: 1 Henan Provincial Academic and Technical Leader, 4 Kaifeng Municipal Outstanding Teachers, and 3 Henan Provincial Young Core Faculty Members. Additionally, the School has engaged 39 industry technical experts as adjunct faculty members.
The School has established 21 on-campus integrated training venues that combine teaching, learning, and hands-on practice, covering fields such as electrotechnics, analog electronics, digital electronics, and smart factories, with a total indoor area of 9,500 square meters. In collaboration with leading domestic and international companies—including Siemens (China) Co., Ltd., HollySys Group, ZTE Corporation, and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.—the School has also set up 18 off-campus training bases. These provide students with a productive learning environment for internships and on-the-job training in real enterprise settings.
The School has established several innovation-focused facilities open to all faculty and students, including: Electronics Innovation Lab, Guoguang Intelligent Control Master Studio, Electrical Testing Master Studio, Smart Electronics Student Maker Space, and CloudCraft Maker Space. These facilities serve as training platforms to enhance students' innovation, entrepreneurship, and employability, while also supporting technological inventions and various skill competitions. With a strong emphasis on developing hands-on practical skills and innovative thinking, the School actively organizes student participation in prestigious national competitions such as: National Vocational College Skills Competition, National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest, and China International College Students' Innovation Competition. In recent years, students have won over 30 awards in these and other skill-based competitions.
In recent years, the School has published over 20 textbooks, including 6 national-level planned textbooks, 1 provincial-level integrated textbook, and 1 provincial-level high-quality online open course. It has also published more than 20 high-quality research papers in core domestic and international journals, obtained over 30 national patents, led more than 50 teaching and research projects, and received over 10 provincial/ministerial-level awards for teaching and research achievements.
