The Northwestern Michigan College (NMC), founded in 1951 along the shores of Lake Michigan on the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, is a public comprehensive community college and can confer bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, and relevant qualifications. NMC is accredited by the US Higher Education Council and receives full funding from the Government of Michigan through government budgets, local property taxes, and tuitions. It enjoys a high reputation across the United States for its teaching quality and talent development, and its qualifications and capabilities are also recognized by the Chinese Ministry of Education.

NMC employs a total of 716 faculty members, including 82 full-time and part-time teachers. Each year, it serves over 5,000 full-time students and more than 10,000 non-degree-seeking students. The college offers more than 60 academic programs, including marine science, water conservation, geomatics engineering, underwater surveying, construction engineering, mechanics, aerospace, automation engineering, business administration, and law. Among them, water conservation, underwater surveying, construction engineering, aerospace, and maritime studies are particularly well-regarded nationwide.

NMC places strong emphasis on developing international exchanges and collaborations. Currently, it hosts over 500 international students from around the world, including 57 from China. The college has also established various educational cooperation projects with universities in the United Kingdom, Costa Rica, Russia, and other countries, providing high-quality educational and reaching resources for students globally.
